IMTUF 20 Mile

A tough and beautiful 20+ mile mountain race. Jughandle Mountain is the towering peak southeast of McCall.  Supposedly, it's granite top looks like a jug of whiskey laid over on its side.  It is defended by steep and unrelenting cross country slopes and a crown of granite talus fields.

Date:        SUNDAY, September 20, 2026.
Time:         9:00 AM Mountain Time.
Location:   Jug Mountain Ranch, McCall, ID in the huge meadow a half mile north of the Clubhouse.
Register:    Here at Ultrasignup.com
Course: 20+ miles with about 5,000' vertical gain.  5,000' vertical loss.  Climb up and over the Ladybug and Jughandle Mountains then down the talus slope to Louie Lake, then right on the Louie lake Loop Trail up and over Twin Peaks Pass.  Descend to Boulder Lake and go left following Boulder Lake Trail along the lakeshore and past the dam and then dropping to an aid station at Boulder Lake Trailhead.  Follow Idaho state lands trails back to JMR to finish.

Cutoff:  6:00 PM SUNDAY- same as for the IMTUF100 Mile.  9 hours is plenty of time for ANYONE to go 20 miles.

Self Sufficiency: We will have one well manned aid station at Boulder Lake and one unmanned water stop earlier in the race in Jug Meadows (approx mile 7).  You should pack as if you were on a long training run- plenty of water, food and extra clothing and essentials.  It is wild and lonely up there.  If rough weather or deep snow are predicted, we reserve the right to make some gear and nutrition mandatory, such as a hooded jacket, buff or beanie hat, gloves, minimum calorie reserve, etc.  If secvere heat is predicted, we may institute a minimum water sotrage capacity, suck as 1-2L.
