There will be a waitlist activated once the cap of 200 is reached on the entrants list. In January 2025, that limit was reached in 18 days, a record for us. Don't wait. Jump in.
If you enter the waitlist, you will not be charged. As space opens on the active roster, you will receive an email with a link to click and enter the race. Only then will a waitlister's credit card be charged.
"But I'm #150 on the waitlist...Will I get into IMTUF?"
The waitlist generally clears in the final month of the race even if it is 200+ runners. Most invites sent out to runners in the final month are not accepted because of the complex logistics of travel to Idaho on short notice. Thus, the list accelerates rapidly in September and we clear dozens of spots per day as runners drop off the list and few entry invites are accepted. Please do not email me asking if you are likely to get in. The overwhelming odds are yes, you are likely to enter. We push hard to get everyone in who wants to race, but at some point we must cut it off and close it down when it begins to interfere with race week preparations and course marking.
If you want to do it right...get in when we open in January. Spend your year training for IMTUF with clarity and certainty. Train it, eat it, sleep it, breathe it.
